My Tea Party Comments Still Ring True
As we approach Independence Day, the words I spoke in the below video at the April Tea Party in Lisle still ring truer than ever:

WANTED: Honest and Effective Leadership
In Joe’s meeting with the Elk Grove Township Republican Organization, there was unanimous agreement that honest and effective leadership — not new tax increases and more spending — is the best way to get Illinois’ economy moving again and to restore integrity to Illinois government.

Addressing the Cook County GOP
Earlier today, I had the pleasure of addressing the Cook County Republican Committeemen’s breakfast. It’s no secret that Cook County is a tough environment for Republicans, but the committeemen I met with today were motivated to work hard for victory in 2009.
Doing well in Cook County is the key to winning any statewide race — and I was happy to meet with these great individuals today. I recorded some thoughts in a quick video below:

Joe Observes National Day of Prayer
Joe was honored to attend yesterday’s National Day of Prayer observance held yesterday in Glendale Heights and sponsored by Adventist GlenOaks Hospital.
The Daily Herald reports on the observance:
The event was among several National Day of Prayer observances held Thursday in DuPage County, including an interfaith gathering at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Naperville.
Roughly 250 people participated in a series of prayers during the county’s observance at Danada House in Wheaton. DuPage County State’s Attorney Joe Birkett, one of the elected officials in attendance, called prayer “an American tradition.”
Congress originally established an annual day of prayer in 1952. The first Thursday in May was formally designated as the National Day of Prayer in 1988.
Congratulations, Matt Zimmerman
Congratulations to Matt Zimmerman, newly elected chairman of the Illinois College Republicans. Matt is a supporter and past coordinator of ours and a student at Eastern Illinois University:
