“Our 6-year nightmare has ended”

(The following is a statement released today by DuPage County State’s Attorney Joe
Birkett, one of former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich’s earliest and most persistent
critics, upon his removal from office.)

“Our state’s six-year nightmare has ended and now we must begin undoing the fiscal and ethical
devastation left by Rod Blagojevich. The lesson today is that we must look past slick, empty
rhetoric and redouble our efforts to make sure we elect people of character and integrity to guide
our state.”
